3-11 Problem Six: Boredom

If you feel boring to sit there for an hour, it indicates that you don’t even know what meditation is. You need mindfulness to be aware of what you are doing. Maintaining mindfulness is difficult. We need to maintain this awareness and then see the true nature of things.

We are trapped in ignorance, bounded by the ego. You can’t get rid of the trap of ego-grasping, so you are not truly mindful. True mindfulness is egoless. At least you should meditate on egolessness or abide in an egoless state. That is true mindfulness. Here, it says feeling boring, which is impossible. If you find it boring, you wouldn’t meditate. Boredom indicates that you don’t even know what meditation is about. Observe your mind.
