An Insight About Essence of Good Deeds
What is virtuous karma?
Virtuous karma is not about accumulating something external or seeking greater rewards. Rather, it is the process of reducing negative karma, facing our harmful tendencies, and gradually transforming them.
Cultivating virtue does not mean adding more desires or creating new attachments. When practicing virtuous actions, we should not increase greed or develop the expectation of gaining something in return.
The true benefit of virtuous karma is not that we obtain more, but that we experience less suffering.
Those who cultivate more virtue are not necessarily free from all difficulties. Instead, their negative conditions are gradually reduced, and their ability to face life’s challenges becomes stronger.
In the Three Realms and Six Realms, all sentient beings experience suffering in different forms. The difference lies only in the degree and intensity of that suffering.
Through cultivating wisdom and virtue, we can gradually reduce suffering, transform our minds, and move toward greater freedom and peace.
