Dean Lung - A humble Chinese illiterate who was worshipped by Americans.

A humble Chinese man with no formal education who embodied the wisdom of the Tao Te Ching and earned the deep respect of Americans.

In 2007, the world-renowned Columbia University in the United States published a “missing person” notice searching for a Chinese man who had lived more than a century earlier.

Almost overnight, people around the world began searching for this mysterious figure, and China’s CCTV also joined the effort to uncover his story.

His name was Dean Lung.

More than 100 years ago, this humble servant planted a seed of kindness and vision. Over time, that seed grew into a towering tree in the river of history.

Despite living in a modest position, Dean Lung had the opportunity to seek recognition and honor for himself and his family. Yet he chose a different path. He remained humble, unknown, and free from the pursuit of fame and wealth.

What kind of wisdom allows someone to give without seeking reward?
What kind of vision allows someone to think beyond their own lifetime?
What kind of spirit allows a person to quietly change the future?

Looking throughout Chinese history, how many people have left such a profound legacy through humility and selflessness?

As Columbia University’s notice stated, Dean Lung contributed not only financial support, but more importantly, he contributed his vision, ideals, and belief in the power of education.
