The root chakra, or Muladhara, is responsible for your sense of safety and security on this earthly journey. Located at the base of the spine at about the tailbone level, it serves as an individual’s emotional and physical base.
This includes your basic needs such as food, water, shelter, and safety, as well as feelings of trust, belonging, and community. Therefore, balancing the root chakra can reduce worry and anxiety, and it also creates a solid foundation for opening the chakras above. If there is an imbalance in the root chakra, you may experience anxiety disorders, fears, or nightmares. Physical imbalances may manifest as problems with the colon, bladder, lower back, leg, or feet, and eating disorders. There are many ways to open your root chakra. For example, you can engage more in grounding and earth-related activities (for instance, connection with nature, gardening, cooking healthy, hiking). Also, the sense organ that corresponds to the first chakra is smell. While meditating, focus on the tip of your nose to help align the root and bring forth the qualities you need to balance your root chakra. Our music can also help you open and balance your root chakra. Just find a comfortable environment for meditation with our music in the background, and you will feel kundalini filling your root chakra up.
